Listing Lookout: check a home listing before you buy or rent

Listing Lookout works on Zillow and Craigslist, and reads most other listing pages when you click it. Open a home listing and it shows, in Chrome's side panel, the listing agent's state license, the area's flood and fire figures, the hurricane evacuation zone, a true monthly cost and the warning signs to check on a rental, before you call, sign or send a deposit. No listing open? Look up an agent or an address yourself.

What it checks

01

The agent

The listing agent in the state's own published license file: active or not, the license number, when it expires and the official lookup to confirm it. Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, New York and Texas today.

02

Flood & fire

From FloodFireCheck: the FEMA flood zone at the address, the neighborhood's share in high-risk zones and its NFIP flood claims, and California's fire hazard severity zones.

03

The monthly cost

Mortgage, property tax, insurance, HOA and a typical flood premium for the area, with every assumption shown and yours to change. An estimate, not a quote.

04

Photos and rentals

AI and virtual-staging tags in the photos' own metadata, and on rentals the warning signs the FTC lists: money by wire or gift card, no inside viewing, an owner who is away.

What it is not

Public records, read plainly. A license on file is not a recommendation, a flood zone is not an official flood determination, a monthly cost is not a quote, and a rental without warning signs can still be a bad deal. Listing Lookout never calls a listing a scam and never rates a neighborhood. Every result links to the official source.

Private by design

No account, no analytics, no ads. The extension reads only the listing page you have open (on sites other than Zillow and Craigslist, only when you click its button), and only to answer the side panel: the agent's name, state and license number go to swiftagentsites.com, and the address or city goes to floodfirecheck.com, whether read from the listing or typed by you. Photos are checked in your browser and never uploaded. Saved homes stay on your computer. Read the privacy policy.
