Help center › Contacts
Importing contacts from a spreadsheet
- Save your spreadsheet as a CSV file (in Excel or Google Sheets: File, Download or Save as, then CSV).
- In Contacts, press Import.
- Choose the file and press Upload and map columns.
- For each column in your file, choose where it goes in your CRM - name, email, phone, tags, or one of your own fields. Choose Don't import for anything you do not want.
- A column with nowhere to go - say Budget or Lead source? Choose + Create a new field. It becomes one of your own fields, named after the column, and its kind is read from what is in it: numbers (even written like $450,000), dates, yes/no, or text.
- An email column is required. Press import.
Someone already in your CRM with the same email is updated rather than added twice: blanks are filled in, and new tags are added to the ones they have.
Tags in your file
Put several tags in one cell, separated by commas - buyer, miami, hot becomes three tags. Semicolons and the | sign work too, since other CRMs export tags that way.
Bringing in your website leads
If you also have a website with us, press Bring in my website leads on the same panel to add everyone who has filled in a form on your site. New website leads arrive in your contacts by themselves - see Website leads.
