Most local moves in the Treasure Valley are straightforward until one or two details get missed. This is a short checklist of the ones that come up most often.
Before the truck arrives
- Confirm elevator or stair access at both buildings and reserve any loading zones or elevators the day before.
- Measure the largest pieces against doorways and stair turns. Couches and refrigerators are the usual surprises.
- Pack a separate “open first” box with basic tools, paper towels, trash bags, phone chargers and a change of clothes.
On the day
- Walk the truck with the crew before anything is unloaded so you both agree on what was loaded.
- Take photos of the condition of floors and walls at the new place before furniture comes in.
- Have cash or a clear payment method ready. Most local crews prefer to settle at the end of the job.
